Make a statement for diversity by signing the Diversity Charter

min read

At a time when diversity is being challenged, every company, organization, and institution should fly the #FlagforDiversity every day. What does this mean? All employees should be valued equally – regardless of their gender, nationality, ethnicity, religion or belief, disability, age, sexual orientation or identity. Therefore, we have signed the Charta der Vielfalt e.V. (Diversity Charter). Does your organization also participate?

What is the Diversity Charter?

The initiative aims to promote the recognition, appreciation and integration of diversity into business culture. When organisations recognize the advantages that come along with their employees’ diversity, they boost their success and are more attractive employers. Why?

- Diversity helps make up for a skills shortage.

- Developing new target groups and markets with a diverse workforce.

- Mixed teams come up with better solutions and more innovative products.

The Charter was launched in 2006 and is under the patronage of Federal Chancellor Dr. Angela Merkel. Since then, more than 3,000 companies and organisations have committed themselves to a corporate culture of diversity and respect. The spectrum of subscribers ranges from small and medium-sized enterprises to Dax-30 corporations, civil society organisations and several federal ministries.

Respect for each other – the basis of online mentoring

In November 2018, we signed the Charta der Vielfalt. To make our commitment to diversity publicly visible, we participated in the German Diversity Day in May 2019. We were proud to be one of over 2,000 organizations participating! We opened our office in the heart of Munich to inform passersby about diversity. Spontaneous participation was encouraged! By signing the Charta der Vielfalt, we are committing ourselves to treating all people with openness and respect in their uniqueness. We expect the same from our mentors and mentees, because we know that online mentoring can only succeed if both sides meet without prejudice and show respect at eye level.

Online mentoring as a diverse and inclusive tool

At the same, we connect people in our programs from all backgrounds, overcome social barriers and thereby foster diversity and inclusion in organizations and broader society.

Would you also like your company to become part of the initiative and the largest German network for Diversity Management? Then register today on Charta der Vielfalt's website.
