Cross-company mentoring offers diversity managers the opportunity to create a protected space in which exploring, trial and error, learning and open exchange about internal company challenges are explicitly desired. A successful example of this is the joint project of PANDA and Volunteer Vision, which was implemented within the framework of "Employers for Equality".
PANDA is a community network for female leaders. As an initiative and social business, PANDA stands for equal rights in business and society. The goal: 50% women in leadership positions.
How does talent development work with cross-company mentoring?
The PANDA Women Leadership Network currently offers over 2,600 women a platform for mutual exchange and networking. In addition, PANDA Consulting helps employers to get in touch with highly qualified women and to recruit them for leadership positions. The PANDA project "Employers for Equality" supports companies on their way to more equality and diversity. Within the framework of the "Employers for Equality" program, the desire arose to connect network experienced managers with young professionals - across company boundaries. For the required cross-company mentoring program a protected space was needed in which mentor and mentee could talk confidently about relevant topics such as leadership methodologies, self-efficacy and resilience.

Six companies are currently participating in the cross-company mentoring program as part of PANDA's "Employers for Equality" project. The mutual exchange across company boundaries allows a change in perspective for the participants: Mentors can reflect on their behavior as managers, and junior staff are getting prepared for management positions. Anonymized reports enable an evaluation of the cross-company mentoring.
